We are not Rubber Bands

After having a baby you should be focusing on your new family.  The beauty of your baby,  not the pooch on your belly.  While some women will be back in their pre pg jeans in no time most women won't, if ever, be back in them.  I have never been the size I was before I got pg with my first.  I probably shouldn't have even been the size I was before I got pg.  It took working out 3 times a week, no breakfast, only coffee, a lite lunch and most times no dinner.  I was in my final semester of college and would be there from 6 am till 10 pm.  I lost 25 lbs in 3 mos.  I am sure I was the envy of women everywhere.  I looked dreadful.

Now, while overweight, I am pretty happy with how I look.  I am not sure I would give up my ample curves to fit in my pre pg jeans.  It would be a tough choice.  But apparently I am supposed to want to.  And my body should be a rubber band, able to bounce back the moment a baby leaves my uterus. Well its not, nor should it be.  We are women, not rubber bands.

  1. And here I thought you were talking about Octomommy posing in a bikini for some mag. LOL. I've never had 8 in one shot (ok, not had 8 total) but I have never even attempted a bikini again after child one. It is cool that she is stating that the pics are doctored! So many would just say "yeah, I can look like that 7 days after giving birth." I like her undocked pic better!

  4. I'm big enough that I can switch between maternity and regular and no one knows, and the baby weight leaves with the baby. Actually I now way 5 pounds less than I did when each of my children were conceived (same weight both times). But trust me, I could still afford to lose at least 100 pounds. I blame PCOS and birth control pills. At one point in high school I weighed 150, and I wouldn't mind weighing that again.

  5. I wouldn't mind weighing 150 again either! It does help that I can hide my pgs till about half way through. Also helpful cause that leaves me with more clothing options.
